1.1 The purpose of this report is for the Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board to consider applications for funding from their 2025-26 Strengthening Communities Fund.

3.7 The 2025-26 Strengthening Communities Fund opened on 1 May 2025 and closed on 30 May 2025.
3.8 A total of 98 applications were received, requesting a total of $1,904,324.
3.9 The Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Community Board has a total funding pool of $712,717.
3.10 Staff have recommended a total of $653,400 for the 2025-26 Waitai Coastal-Burwood-Linwood Strengthening Communities Fund (this includes $241,500 of pre-committed multi-year funding), which would result in $59,317 remaining for the 2025-26 Discretionary Response Fund (plus any carry-forward from the 2024-25 year which is currently being finalised).
3.11 In the 2023-24 funding round, the Board approved multi-year funding to the following organisations:
· Breezes Road Baptist Church - $9,000.
· Ōtautahi Sports Association Limited - $11,000.
· Aranui Community Trust (ACTIS) - $40,000.
· Burwood Day Care Centre for the Elderly Inc. - $7,000.
· Woolston Development Project Incorporated - $23,000.
· Eastern Community Sport and Recreation Incorporated - $4,000.
· Anglican Diocese of Christchurch - Parish of Linwood-Aranui - $9,000.
· Crossroads Youth With a Future - $18,000.
· Eastern Community Sport and Recreation Incorporated - $25,000.
· New Brighton Project Incorporated - $26,000.
· Kāwai Rangatahi Trust (formerly Strengthening Linwood Youth Trust) - $38,000.
· Youth Alive Trust - $30,000.
· Southshore Residents Association Incorporated - $1,500.
3.12 Staff are recommending no additional application(s) this year for multi-year funding.
3.13 Staff have assessed all applications received and made recommendations. Attached is a decision matrix, which includes organisational details, project details, financial information, a staff assessment, and a priority ranking (refer Attachment A).

1. Receives the information in the Board Projects Funding 2025-26 Report.
2. Notes that the decisions in this report are assessed as low significance based on the Christchurch City Council’s Significance and Engagement Policy.
3. Allocates $500 from its 2025/26 Discretionary Response Fund towards Anzac Day Expenses.
4. Allocates $8,000 from its 2025/26 Discretionary Response Fund towards Waitai Garden Pride Awards, Edible Garden Awards, End of Year Networking Function for Key Community Groups.
5. Allocates $5,000 from its 2025/26 Discretionary Response Fund towards Koru Fund and approve the email delegation for applications up to $500 to Alex Hewison, Tim Baker and Jackie Simons.
