Copper Wire Phone Service – Akaroa and the Bays
Victoria
Andrews, local resident, spoke to the Board regarding the loss of the copper
wire phone service in Akaroa and the Bays and her interaction with Chorus
Ms Andrews
acknowledged the Board and staff’s assistance to establish an
Information Desk in Akaroa Service Centre. The trial will be from
December 2024 to May 2025.
After
questions, the Board thanks Mrs Andrews for her presentation.

Drummonds Jetty – Name Change
Jan Sutherland,
local resident, spoke to the Board behalf of Hugh Waghorn, regarding changing
the name of Drummonds Jetty in Akaroa to Davis Jetty.
After
questions, the Board thanked Mr Sutherland for his presentation.

The Board agreed to
request staff advice on the renaming of Drummonds Jetty in Akaroa to Davis Jetty.

Janis Haley,
local resident spoke to the Board regarding the Britomart Historic Reserve
and requested that the formation of a Reserve Committee be considered for
Britomart Historic Reserve.
After
questions, the Board thanks Mrs Haley for her presentation.

Sensors network that could be used for weather events, and Police investigations,
the Kōtuitui smart pole project, and Christchurch
Free Wi-Fi.

Relations Lead Chorus and Nathan Beaumont - Head of Corporate Affairs, presented
to the Board on the retirement of the Customer
Multi-Access Radio (CMAR) and Country Set (CS) equipment within Te
Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula by 31 March 2025, owing to
the age and state of the radio-based technology. People who have a current
phone service that use the radio-based technologies will need to switch to a
new phone service, supported by a different network technology, if they wish
to keep their landline phone number.
