Open Forum - Christchurch Yacht Club Design

Bryan Treleaven, President Christchurch Yacht Club and Paul Williams spoke on behalf of the Christchurch Yacht Club regarding the Club’s proposed new design plans.

The Chairperson thanked them for their presentation.

3.   Christchurch Yacht Club Lease - Application for new building and improvements

 

Council officers Jason Tickner, Parks and Recreation Planner and Felix Dawson, Leasing Consultant presented to the Board on the Christchurch Yacht Club’s request to undertake building works and improvements.

The Christchurch Yacht Club hold deed of licence (Licence to Occupy) in perpetuity with the Christchurch City Council for the exclusive use and occupation of the site at 239 Main Road, Moncks Bay.

Officers spoke to and showed in their presentation the Club’s plans to develop the site to provide storage, security, and boat launching improvements.

After questions from the board the Chairperson thanked the officers for their presentation.

Keir Leslie left the meeting at 5:08pm and returned to the meeting at 5:10pm during consideration of item 3.

 

The meeting adjourned at 5:18pm and reconvened at 5:22pm.

 

4.   Connecting with Young Residents on Community Issues

 

Council officer Jonathon Jones, Community Board Advisor presented a project concept for engaging with young residents in the Waihoro Ward.

The Board agreed to an initial hui with young residents before the end of 2024.

After questions from the board the Chairperson thanked the officer for his presentation.

5.   Elected Members’ Information Exchange Te Whakawhiti Whakaaro o Te Kāhui Amorangi

Members exchanged on the following matters:

-          A member noted temporary traffic management concerns raised by residents in Sumner near a new residential development on the Esplanade.

-          A member noted the Addington Community and Corrections New Zealand hui held on 19 September 2024. The hui covered the process for notifying when offenders are placed back in the community.

-          A member noted the Environment Canterbury consultation is open on the Regional Public Transport Plan.

-          A member noted that the Hoon Hay Community Association Spring Market would be taking place on 29 September 2024.

-          A member noted that the Whareora AGM is coming up.

-          A member noted the Celebrate Sommerfield event would be taking place on 28 September 2024.

-          A member attended a meeting with staff on the Ōmōkihi South Library development as Board project liaison.

-          A member noted the reopening of Ferrymead Heritage Park on 29 September 2024.
