Nature of Issue and Origin |
LTP development and timings are requirements of the Local Government Act 2002. This series of briefings is based on the Mayor and Councillor's Letter of Expectation, as well as the Long-term Plan process and high-level phasings approved by Council. |

This briefing is expected to last for approximately one hour. |

Outcome Sought |
Guidance is sought on the following topics so that they meet Council expectation, in readiness for staff preparation of the Draft Long-term Plan adoption report and supporting documentation, including coordination of the related audit (community consultation commencing March 2024): · |

Next Steps |
· Guidance from this briefing will continue to inform the development of the draft LTP. · LTP development and decision-making is extensively reviewed by the Office of the Auditor-General (via Audit NZ.) Results of the audit review are published with the draft and final LTP documents. · Council will meet to adopt the draft LTP 2024-34 for consultation on 14 February 2024. · Community consultation period begins March 2024, including submissions and hearings. |
Key points / background |
In line with Councillors’ Letter of Expectations extensive briefings have been conducted with Councillors since July 2023, documentation and recordings from these briefings have been made publicly available, with some briefings advertised and held in public.
Infrastructure Strategy Requirements of the Infrastructure Strategy Consultation Document is outlined in the Local Government Act 2002, Section 101B.
