3.   Proposed Temporary Road Closures for Matariki Festival

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee received an overview of the proposed temporary road closures from the Team Leader Traffic Management Coordinator, Temporary Traffic Management Team. It was confirmed that roads are only proposed to be closed until 11pm on the relevant days.

The Event Partnerships and Development Advisor and Events Producer for the event were in attendance, and provided information and responded to questions regarding the event and notification.

The Subcommittee acknowledged and considered the information provided by the event organiser on the communication and engagement undertaken on the proposed road closures.

That the Road Closure Subcommittee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Authorise the approval of temporary road closures for the Matariki Festival, proposed to be deployed between 5pm and 11pm daily, from Thursday 23 June to Sunday 3 July 2022:

a.         Oxford Terrace, between Gloucester Street and Worcester Street

b.         Cathedral Square, between Colombo Street and Worcester Street.

4.   Proposed Temporary Road Closures for Matariki Winter Fireworks 2022

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee received an overview of the proposed temporary road closures from the Team Leader Traffic Management Coordinator, Temporary Traffic Management Team.

The Event Partnerships and Development Advisor and Events Producer for the event were in attendance, and provided information and responded to questions regarding the event and notification.

The Subcommittee acknowledged and considered the information provided by the event organiser on the communication and engagement undertaken on the proposed road closures. It was noted that initial stakeholder and resident communication had not included the closure of New Brighton Road. The Subcommittee was advised that there are no residents in this area, and that if approved further notification and pre-warning signage will include this road closure.

That the Road Closure Subcommittee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Authorise the approval of road closures for the Matariki Winter Fireworks 2022, proposed to be deployed from 4pm to 9.30pm Saturday 9 July 2022 or the rain date contingency of Sunday 10 July 2022:

a.         Beresford Street, between Marine Parade and Owles Terrace

b.         Brighton Mall, between Beresford Street and Union Street

c.         Collingwood Street, between Owles Terrace and Union Street

d.         Hardy Street, between Seaview Road and Owles Terrace

e.         Mafeking Street, entire length

f.          Marine Parade, between Hawke Street and Hood Street

g.         New Brighton Road, between Hawke Street and Pratt Street

h.         Oram Avenue, between Beresford Street and Hood Street

i.          Seaview Road, between Owles Terrace and Union Street

j.          Shaw Avenue, between Hawke Street and Seaview Road

k.         Union Street, between Hood Street and Seaview Road.
