8.   Proposed Road Closures for New Brighton Fireworks 2017

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination. 

Paul Keen and Kathryn Ralph-Triebels from the Christchurch City Council Events Production Team presented to the Subcommittee and responded to questions on the event.

The Subcommittee was advised that with 50,000 expected attendees there will some traffic congestion at the end of the event. Police will be assisting with pinch points.

The Subcommittee received assurance that publicity includes carparking/route information. It is planned at activate Thomson Park as a car park and access is being maintained to Seaview Road via Hawke Street to food outlets.

4.   Proposed Road Closures for Rockabilly Car Show 2017

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination.  Information on communication and consultation undertaken was circulated to the Subcommittee.

Noted this is a night time event to precedes the Show on 10 November 2017 in Rawhiti. The organisers have consulted with all businesses in Mall and have encouraged food vendors to have a presence. The Subcommittee noted that the Coastal-Burwood Community Board will be advised of the decision.

5.   Report for proposed closures associated with Summer Starter 2017

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination. 

The Subcommittee received advice that this is a running/walking event; that business access will be maintained at all times. Beachville Road will be closed overnight –there will be restricted access for those residents all of whom have been contacted as have all businesses along route.

The Subcommittee requested that staff inform the relevant Residents Associations of the decision.

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination. 

The Subcommittee was advised that this is a long standing event with community involvement and has no know issues.

7.   Proposed road closures for Port Hills All Tarmac Rally

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination.

The Subcommittee was advised that this event has been run several times previously. Noted that all affected residents have been contacted. Walking Track access onto Summit Road will have marshalls, tape and signage in place – this is stipulated in the agreement letter as a condition to ensure public safety.

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination. 

The Subcommittee was advised that this is a new event. It was confirmed that the applicant has spoken to all impacted businesses and that alternative access will be maintained at all times.

10. Proposed Road Closures Christmas in the Park

 

Subcommittee Comment

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination. 

The Subcommittee requested that staff notify relevant Residents Associations of the decision.

The Subcommittee received advise that this event has run for many years; the closure area of the current event has been reduced to between Dorset Street and Bealey Avenue. Only one resident will have access impacted as has been consulted.

The Subcommittee received advice that the new Crowne Plaza is an impacted business but is also the major sponsor.

The Subcommittee considered the report and received an overview of the proposed road closure from Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) Traffic Management Coordination.

The Subcommittee was advised that this event has been successfully run in the past. Riccarton Mall is the sponsor. Traffic routes parallel to Riccarton Avenue will be available. There have been no past issues.

The Subcommittee requested that staff inform relevant Residents Associations of the decision.
