The Chairperson pointed out that the proposal for lights at the Cashmere Tennis Club that has been consulted on, will be coming to the Board for consideration in the near future and she cautioned members about potential conflicts of interest with regard to this matter.

4.   Deputations by Appointment

The Board decided to accept the following deputation.

4.1       Janette Sprott, Jo Sprott and Linda Kendrew – Christchurch Community Response Team


Ms Janette Sprott, along with Ms Jo Sprott and Ms Linda Kendrew, updated the Board on the door knocking programmes undertaken by the Christchurch Community Response Team.

The team receives requests from agencies to undertake a door knocking campaign to gather information about residents’ wellbeing. The door knocking is carried out by a group of volunteers.

The representatives said that the information collected shows that the main issues people are dealing with still continue to be earthquake related, including a range  of anxiety issues. 

Following questions from members, the Chairperson thanked  Ms Sprott, Ms Kendrew and Ms Sprott  for their deputation.

That the Board decided to receive the Spreydon/Heathcote Community Board Area Report, including information on:

7.   Elected Member Information Exchange

The Board received information from members on the following:

7.1       Risingholme

             The homestead has recently been damaged by fire

             That the Spreydon/Heathcote Community Board supports the Risingholme management in requesting urgent advice from Council staff on the status of the repair/rebuild of the Risingholme homestead following the recent fire.

7.2       St Mary's Church Square Speed Zone

             There continues to be concern among Addington residents about the speed of vehicles in Addington, and damage caused by these vehicles, particularly in the vicinity of St Mary's Church.

             The Board noted that this concern was first raised about 18 months ago and a request made for investigation of a 30 Kilometre speed zone but this speed limit was not recommended by staff at that time. Since then, a 30 kilometre speed limit has been introduced in the inner city.

That the  Spreydon/Heathcote Community Board decided to request that staff provide a report on the introduction of a 30 kilometre per hour speed limit around St Mary's Church Addington and in wider Addington between Selwyn Street and Spencer Street, including the latter but not the former, and from Brougham Street to Lincoln Road.

7.3       Pan Pacific  Cycleways Congress will be coming to Christchurch

7.4       90 Hoon Hay Road - building will open at 2pm on 2 July 2016

7.5       A residential development of 331 dwellings is underway in Waltham

7.6       Samoan Language Week event at Rowley School

7.7       Sydenham Church site is expected to be cleared by Christmas 2016. 

7.8       Chairperson’s meeting with the CEO.
