Road Closure Subcommittee

1.   Apologies

No apologies.

 

 2    Kids Fest Lantern Festival

 

The Road Closure Subcommittee considered an application a for the temporary closure of roads for the Kids Fest Lantern Festival.  The proposed closures were publicly notified on 4 June 2016.  No objections were received.

 

Simon Hodges, Christchurch Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) and Paul King, Events Production gave an overview on the event and proposed road closures, planning and the impact on the central city and responded to questions from Subcommittee members.

 

 

Committee Resolved RCS/2016/00002

That the Road Closure Subcommittee approve the road closures for the following event as below with conditions as indicated:

1.              Kids Fest Lantern Festival

Road to be closed:

·         Armagh Street – from Madras Street to Manchester Street

·         Period of Closure – From 4:30pm to 7:30pm 9 July 2016

Roads to be closed:

·         Cathedral Square – from Hereford Street to Colombo Street

·         Worcester Street – from Cathedral Square to Manchester Street,

·         Gloucester Street – from Manchester Street to Press Lane

·         Armagh Street – from Colombo Street to Manchester Street

·         Proposed Period of Closure – From 5:15pm to 6:15pm 9 July 2016

2.              That clear information on access and car parking is included in promotion of the event.

3.              Notification of the event and road closures to central city hotels and businesses in the vicinity of the road closures.

4.              Notification of the event and road closures to transport operators and the Christchurch Tramway operator.
