2.        Proposed Temporary Road Closures for Hope Walk 2018

1.   Purpose of Report

1.1       The purpose of this report is to provide information to, and seek authorisation from, the Road Closure Subcommittee on the proposed road closures associated with Hope Walk 2018.

2.   Staff Recommendations

That the Road Closure Subcommittee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Authorise the closure Worcester Boulevard from Rolleston Avenue to Cambridge Terrace, from 12 Midday to 3pm on 23 June 2018.

 

3.   Key Points

3.1       The purpose of the proposed road closure is to facilitate a suicide awareness walk which will progress from Hagley Park to the East frame on Cashel Street.

3.2       Public consultation was carried out through standard channels with the period of time allowing for objections to be received meeting the minimum time period of one week.  The application was publicly notified on 24 May 2018 with objections closing on 31 May 2018.

3.3       The event organisers have contacted the impacted businesses and residents in the area of the proposed road closure and will supply information to the Subcommittee regarding the feedback they have received.

3.4       The Christchurch Transport Operations Centre supports the proposed closures and believes the proposed closures will not unreasonably impact traffic.

3.        Proposed Road Closures Lyttelton Festival of Lights 2018

1.   Purpose of Report

1.1       The purpose of this report is to provide information to, and seek authorisation from, the Road Closure Subcommittee on the proposed road closures associated with Lyttelton Festival of Lights 2018.

 

2.   Staff Recommendations

That the Road Closure Subcommittee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Authorise the closure of London Street from Oxford Street to Canterbury Street from 12 midday 29 June to 1am 30 June 2018.

3.         Authorise the closure of Canterbury Street from Winchester Street to Norwich Quay from 2pm 29 June to 1am 30 June 2018.

4.         Authorise the closure of London Street from Dublin Street to Canterbury Street from 2pm 29 June to 1am 30 June 2018.

 

3.   Key Points

3.1       Public consultation was carried out through standard channels with the period of time allowing for objections to be received meeting the minimum time period of one week.  The application was publicly notified on 24 May 2018 with objections closing on 31 May 2018.

3.2       The event organisers have been informed that they must contact the impacted businesses and residents in the area of the proposed road closures. They have been informed that they will need to supply information to the Subcommittee regarding the consultation undertaken and any feedback they have received.

3.3       At the time of writing this report, no information had been received with regards to consultation undertaken however the event organisers have been informed they will need to provide the this information, or appear at the hearing, to provide details of consultation undertaken.

3.4       The Christchurch Transport Operations Centre supports the proposed closures and believes the proposed closures will not unreasonably impact traffic.

4.        Proposed Temporary Road Closures Kids Lantern Parade

1.   Purpose of Report

1.1       The purpose of this report is to provide information to, and seek authorisation from, the Road Closure Subcommittee on the proposed road closures associated with the Kids Lantern Parade 2018.

2.   Staff Recommendations

That the Road Closure Subcommittee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Authorise the approval of the road closure of Oxford Terrace from Lichfield Street to Hereford Street, from 3pm to 7pm Saturday 21 July 2018.

3.         Authorise the approval of the road closure of Hereford Street from 20 metres East of Oxford Terrace to Cambridge Terrace, from 3pm to 7pm Saturday 21 July 2018.

3.   Key Points

3.1       The purpose of the proposed road closure is to facilitate a safe environment, free of vehicles, to hold the Kids Festival Lantern Parade.

3.2       Public consultation was carried out through standard channels with the period of time allowing for objections to be received meeting the minimum time period of one week.  The application was publicly notified on 24 May 2018 with objections closing on 31 May 2018.

3.3       The Event organisers have contacted the impacted businesses and residents in the area of the proposed road closure and will supply information to the Subcommittee regarding the feedback they have received.

3.4       The Christchurch Transport Operations Centre supports the proposed closures and believes the proposed closures will not unreasonably impact traffic.

3.         Authorise the closure of Hereford Street From Rolleston Avenue to #20 Hereford Street, From 4pm to 9:30pm nightly,  Wednesday 8 August 2018 to Sunday 12 August 2018
