1.   Purpose of Report

1.1       The purpose of this report is for the Coastal-Burwood Community Board Submissions Committee to consider:

1.1.1   Preparing feedback on Regenerate Christchurch’s 10 possible combinations of uses for the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor

1.1.2   Preparing a submission on the Christchurch Hot Pools

2.   Staff Recommendations

That the Coastal-Burwood Community Board Submissions Committee:

1.         Receive the information in the report.

2.         Determines if it wishes to submit feedback on Regenerate Christchurch’s 10 possible combinations of uses for the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor

3.         Determines if it wishes to prepare a submission on the Christchurch Hot Pools

3.   Key Points

3.1       Regenerate Christchurch: Regenerate Christchurch has published 10 possible combinations of uses for the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor. They wish to know what people think of the possible combinations, the information considered to get to this point and whether they have missed anything, before we refine the combinations into a shortlist.

The attachments to this report relevant to Regenerate Christchurch are:
 - A summary of the 10 possible combinations
-  A summary of land use assessments and indicative business case

Feedback must be lodged by 5pm, Monday 6 November 2017

3.2       DCL: Christchurch Hot Pools - Development Christchurch Limited, working alongside Christchurch City Council, has taken the community’s direction and come up with ideas for how this project might work.

All funding for the hot pools was approved by Council in June 2017 as part of the Annual Plan process, where the community was consulted on Council’s proposal to allocate additional funding for the project. Work on the new play area and Hot Salt Water Pools is just one part of the evolving programme of regeneration happening in New Brighton. This development needs to fit in with other community initiatives, plans for the revitalisation of the commercial centre, the implementation of the Master Plan, work to understand future environmental issues, and the wider regeneration of New Brighton.

The deadline for submissions is midnight, Sunday 12 November 2017.
