1.   Purpose and Origin of Report

Purpose

The purpose of this report is for the Mayor to report on external activities she undertakes in her city and community leadership role; and to report on outcomes and key decisions of the external bodies she attends on behalf of the Council.

Origin

This report is compiled by the Mayor’s office.

Canterbury Regional Transport Committee

The Land Transport Management Act 2003 requires every regional Council to establish a regional transport committee for its region, with territorial authorities nominating one person to be appointed to the Joint Committee.  The Act does not provide for the appointment of alternates.  In December 2016 the Council appointed the Mayor as its nominated member to the Committee.  The Mayor has since proposed that Councillor Davidson be the Council appointee.

2.   Mayors Recommendations

That the Council:

1.         Receive the information in this report.

2.         Resolve that Councillor Davidson replace the Mayor as the Christchurch City Council appointee to the Canterbury Regional Transport Committee.
